Our new house

Well, we are almost all settled into our new place. We moved over on the first and we had a big party that weekend. We blessed Scooter in church and we had everyone there that could be there. I was so happy to have both sets of his grandparents there. I should have gotten more pictures that day, but I didn’t. I did get some pictures of moving and Melissa took some pictures of the new house for us. Enjoy.

I haven’t quite figured out this new website picture uploading. Well, I should say that it is annoying to add captions to them like this. I had a little party over here with my basketball friends. The first of many I hope. I love having people over and hanging out and chatting. We learn so much more about each other from hanging out. We play great basketball together and are good friends off the court too. I have to say that there are not many places where you can find this.

I am getting excited about March Madness! I love this time of year. I love it. I love it. I love it. I have a bracket filled out, but if you have been watching ESPN lately and have seen the commercial with the guy in the office with brackets all over the wall, then you know how I am going to fill out my brackets. I am having more than one. I am picking favorites, sleepers, gut and upset. Or something. Levi likes to pick out teams over random things like whose mascot could beat the other in a fight. I love it. So fun. Get one those brackets ready, cause the tourney starts Thursday morning!!

And now for the finale, I am watching NCIS and I have to go. :)

Update

We are really getting ready to move now. I have the living room filled with boxes. I have been packing away stuff for a month now. I really am hoping that moving day goes smoothly. It is only 8 days away. I still have a bunch of stuff to pack up, but it is stuff that needs to be out until we move.

Ben is wearing undies now, but he still needs a little help on when he has to go. If I don’t sit him on the potty, he will go a bit in his undies and then run to the potty as fast as he can to try to get the rest in the toilet. :) But he has been doing well with them. He actually wants to put them on now. Sometimes he refuses to sit on the potty, but I am working on that.

John is taking a little vacation from work. He had been working on a project for a few months and put in a bunch of extra time on it, so since we are moving, he is taking a couple weeks off to help and to rest too. He needs a break. He and his dad are in a weight loss competition too. He has been going to the Gym with Levi this past week. Levi is his personal trainer and John is doing whatever Levi asks. I am thankful for Levi, I could have told John what to do, but I just don’t think he would have listened to me as easily as he is Levi.

I am just watching Ben’s new favorite show, Chuggington. I love it. It is way better than Thomas and all about trains. It is a new show on Playhouse Disney. Ben watches it when I let him. :)

Today we are going to a BYU vs Wyoming basketball game to see Katie K. She was here playing Utah about a month ago and I went by myself with my two boys. Today John is coming and Kamie Jo will be there too. So I won’t be all alone. It is just nicer with other people there. I had a great time watching Ben mooch popcorn off of some people while I fed Scooter from ten rows up. :) I think he even got a drink from them too. I was trying to yell at him, but it was halftime and the band was playing. They seemed ok with it, but come on Ben we don’t eat strangers’ food.

Ok, off I go for now.

Moving

So we did it, we found a house to rent in Orem that we like. We will be moving in on March 1st. I am really excited about the location of the house. I hope the house will be as exciting too. We walked through it once and it seemed great, but we will see how living in it will work out.

I am just starting to pack up our stuff. I need boxes. I tried getting some off of freecycle (a website where people give stuff away to those who need it) but she had just sent them to recycling that morning. Boo. Another guy has 200+ boxes and says you have to take all of them. John doesn’t think we need that much. I know we don’t, but when you have that much you don’t need to keep looking in other place for boxes cause they are all right there.

On another subject, who really reads this blog anyway? Since I hadn’t posted in so long I think I lost my followers. Oh well.

I have been trying to potty train Ben. We had a time of success when he pooped three or four times on there, but now, he doesn’t seem to want anything to do with the potty. He almost always goes somewhere to hide to poop. He has only a few times said he had to go to the bathroom. Never has he told me when he has to pee. We have kind of focused more on the pooping part of the potty. I thought if we got poop down, then pee would come next. It hasn’t been helpful for him that we just had a new baby and that we are moving. I am just hoping that someday he says, “Mom, I want to wear my big boy underwear and go pee and poop on the potty from now on.” Would that be asking too much?? Maybe. I know.

And for a picture to spice this post up. I will search my computer for something. :)

Those were the only picture I have on this computer. They were of the Fourth of July. Melissa took them all. She takes such great pictures. I am grateful for the pictures she takes. Thanks Meliss.

Now to get Ben off the potty. He has been sitting on it for a half hour or something. He likes to play games on my phone or today, send his Grammy text messages.

Today

Today has been an interesting day. My mom and Greg left my house today after being here since a few days before Christmas. We’ll miss them. I put Ben on the potty and he pooped all by himself. Then when it was nap time, I put Ben in his room, Scooter was napping already and I took a shower. After getting out of the shower, I went to check on my boys. Ben was in his room crying with the light on. He usually just plays in his room if he isn’t going to sleep, but the last few days he has cried and told me he can’t go to sleep. A few days ago, he told me he wanted to sit on the potty. So I let him and he pooped. We had bought a gingerbread train for him to make when he told us he had to go to the bathroom and then did. So instead of taking him back to nap, we went upstairs and made the gingerbread train.

So back to today. I returned and he was crying and said I can’t sleep. As he cried I told him not to throw up because last night he was all upset and cried until he threw up. He said I have to go throw up in the toilet. Maybe I should have listened and I would have saved myself the nasty clean up that followed as he continued to cry and choke and throw up. We had just had little cracker sandwiches with summer sausage. It was yuckie. So now he is not napping, he is “sick” and sitting on the couch by me saying, “Mommy how bout you be sick with me. Mommy you’re sick.”

Little stinker.

Christmas Parties

We just had our two annual Christmas parties. I love Christmas parties. The white elephant games were a little less intense this year with not too many people stealing things and wishing they’d ended up with something else. I personally came away with two great ones. Nothing too lame. I actually took my own gift at my family’s party. :) I wanted the Jillian Michaels workout video, which I used last night. No one else wanted it, so I came home with it.

I didn’t get any pictures at either party. I have so many things to worry about bringing when I go out now. I just started remembering things that I need for me. I forgot the camera at one and brought it to the other and didn’t use it. I am going to have to pass the baton to someone else for video and pictures cause I have other things to worry about. Or something.

Thanks to Amy and those who planned the Post party! We really had a good time. Ben had a pretty good fall at the Post family party. He didn’t get a nap that day. He fell and slammed his face on the tile floor. He was crying about it for a while. Then when Santa showed up he ran and hid under the table crying. He was afraid of Santa. I told him he had to tell Santa what he wanted for Christmas. He came over to me and start to cry and said, “You just tell him I want the Sodor Steam Works.” It was too cute. I didn’t go right away and he came over and repeated himself. Too cute.

In other news, Ben helped me wrap some presents. As I wrapped my white elephant gifts, he brought over his Gordon train and asked me to wrap it. So I did and then I told him he could open it or he could put under the tree. He put it under the tree. Then when I was wrapping the other white elephant presents, he brought his Thomas train over and had me wrap that too. He put it under the tree. At the time, those were the only presents under the tree. I think he was getting worried he wasn’t getting any gifts or something. LOL. Both trains are still under the tree.

I am done now. I just wanted to write something about something. Almost time to watch the big BYU bowl game.

My minds ponderings this evening

I am just sitting here watching the Colts play the Jags and I just thought I could write some of what I was thinking on my blog as I told myself to blog more. I love watching ESPN. I love watching football games and basketball games. I am not so much a fan of baseball, but I did get into the worlds series this past year. I am a big fan of college football. I really enjoy watching good games. I haven’t gone to many games, I think I like watching from home better, but wouldn’t really know cause like I said I haven’t been to too many games. I love games that are close unless I am invested in a team. I don’t really like it when my team is behind and playing catch up.

I start my mornings with a good dose of SportsCenter. I try to read a General Conference talk first thing in the morning, then watch SportsCenter. I have been catching up on a lot of Tiger Woods news, a Bengal that died today (very sad), and of course all those football coaches who might get fired or forced to retire (Notre Dame and Bobby Bowden). I don’t watch the regular news, just the sports stuff. I am amazed at how they can just do hour after hour of the same sports highlights and that I watch it too. :)

There is just something about watching athletes perform at the top of their games that I just love. People are just so good at what they do sometimes. I mean look at Kobe Bryant who broke his finger the other day, his index finger on his shooting hand and still manages to put in 46 points or something like that. Have you tried to shoot a ball with a jammed finger on that shooting hand? Not easy. And his finger is broken. Wow.

I know, I know, there are probably better things to think about, but that is what is on my mind now. Well, Scooter crying and tooting is currently on my mind. He is having some trouble getting that gas out. :) Gotta go help the poor little guy.

Jared Scott Lindquist

Jared Scott Lindquist
Born: December 1,2009
Weight: 7lbs 7oz
Length: 21 inches

Our Story:

4:30am Dec. 1st–Wake up and get ready to go to the hospital.

5:00am–Check into the Labor and Delivery ward at the hospital.

7:00am–Petocin started, IVs hooked up, ready and waiting for an epidural. Doctor Ponder came in and checked my cervix. I was only at a 1 or so. Not dilated hardly at all. I think she may have broke my water/stripped my membrane at this time.

9:00ish–The anesthesiologist came in and administered the epidural. I hadn’t felt too many contractions, but when I had them they were quite sharp and painful for only a few seconds. I remember curling into the little ball and trying to relax. He told me to arch my back into the needle and as he was doing it I pulled away from the pain (a normal reflex). He reminded me to arch my back or to push into the pain. I remember thinking, “That is not normal pushing your body into pain.”

10am–I felt no pain and was off to dream land until the next time the nurse interrupted to check my blood sugar.

12pm–Start the nausea. I got a flash of hot and really thought there might be puke. I had to have John get me a cool wet cloth. I kept needing to wipe my brow and behind my ears with it. The nurse gave me some Zofran to help.

12:30ish–I told the nurse that I was feeling a lot of pressure/pain in my bum. She said that was a good sign and that she was going to check my cervix. I was already at an 8. Holy moly. She couldn’t believe it. She said that the baby was on his way. She began to prep the room for delivery.

1:30pm–Doctor Ponder was ready. I was ready. I gave a few pushes during a contraction. The nurse and Dr Ponder were giving me encouraging words. John was there supporting my leg. I felt very reassured when listening to Dr Ponder telling me to push and that she could see his head. During the second contraction, I felt nauseous again. I had to get a cold rag back. I had a few more contractions and on the last one (of course it was the last one, cause the baby came out) Dr Ponder told me to push hard and I believed if I could really push and focus on it it would be the last.

2:04pm–Scooter popped right out, head, shoulders and all. Dr Ponder actually told me to stop pushing. I was so shocked. It was quick and practically pain free. Much different from the delivery of Ben.

I am going to try to get some pictures and video on here. I don’t know how successful I will be by myself, but I will try.

Thanks for reading after so long of no posting. :)

Woah! A new Blog Post?? No it is not the end of the world . . .

I have been quite the busy bee lately. I have been to Dallas, to New York City, to my mom’s house multiple times, and just here and there and everywhere. I guess I was getting all the traveling in before I have a new baby to take care of. :) I haven’t stopped into the guest room (where my blogging/picture computer is) in a very long time. I try to post pictures to Facebook from my phone or just update that as much as I can, but who knew some people don’t have Facebook accounts. Not my fault, but I will update here so that those individuals don’t feel left out (if they weren’t feeling that way already).

So, where to start?? I don’t even think I posted any pictures from Alaska on here. I put them all on my Facebook account. But let me start from the most recent and work my way back.

Kamie Jo, John and I were recently in New York City together. John has been working out there for like the the past forever it seems, so he banked up a bunch of sky mile points for free tickets and brought me and Kam out for a few days’ vacation. We had a wonderful time! What an amazing place NYC is. Unlike anyplace I have ever been before.

I just uploaded the pictures onto this computer I am at, so I will attempt to place them carefully into my post. :)

Ok, hopefully that worked, cause I am off to finish watching the last session of Conference this weekend. What a lovely conference weekend BTW. :)

Hair cut

So I know I haven’t written anything in forever. I only have my pictures on this one computer and it is in my guest room and when guests are here I don’t like using this computer. So everyone else suffers no pictures. Sorry.

For now I want to share Ben’s new haircut.

Before

Long hair Ben.

Long hair Ben.

Now here is the new and improved Ben. I wasn’t quite wanting that short. The cutter asked me and got pictures out of how I might want it before we started and then cut it just like one of the pictures I said was too short. Oh well, it will grow back and he is still cute.

And there you have it. My new boy with his new hair.

Just to catch up a bit. I went to Alaska in the middle of June and had a GREAT time. I loved it all. Thanks to all the family and friends who made it such a great trip!! When I got home, my mom was here at our house for a week and a half. We celebrated the fourth of July together out in front of the temple on the lawns. We had a great evening. Ben called the fireworks “boom.” He made everyone say it at least once. After my mom left, John had to go back to NYC for work, so I went to my moms. We had fun down there. At the end of this week we are headed to PC for our yearly trip!! I love this time of year, even though it is so hot I get sick most days.

We just found out our next baby is another BOY!! Hooray!! What fun. I can’t wait.

For now I have to go check on Ben cause he has been alone downstairs for a little to long while I wrote this. He should just be playing wit his new train, but you never know.

Ben is so cute

So Ben gets up in the mornings at 6:00am on the nose almost every time, regardless of when he gets to sleep. This morning he played quietly in his room with the light off (I unscrew it before he goes to bed so he can’t get up and turn it on) for two hours before I woke up and came to get him. He just loves trains and plays with his trains until I show up. So since he does that, he has been taking naps earlier in the day around 12 or 1 sometimes. When we go to Melissa’s in the mornings, he usually falls asleep on the way home. He just can’t handle those car rides.

Well, today on the way home it was too cute. He was eating a taco and was just finishing up. He put the last bite in his mouth and I could just tell he was going to fall asleep before he even finished chewing it. I had to startle him by saying, “Ben finish chewing before you fall asleep,” like three times. He just fell right to sleep, he may still have had a little bit in his mouth. Too cute. I love it when he goes to sleep. Kids are just so peaceful when they sleep.

I am considering potty training him. I have no idea what I am doing, people keep saying just put him on the potty. Well, I need more than that, so I bought a book to help. It is called Potty Training in Just One Day. Exciting. I have only had time to read a small part of it, but the woman who wrote it had a potty training nightmare with her two and a half year old before she figured it out. I don’t want to have that. I bought him so underwear and a little potty seat to put on the big potty. He is getting better and has sat on it once or twice. I just need to get my book read and go from there.

I am tired now and am going to try to get some shut eye while Ben is still napping.
